-The Farmer's market has real soul and good food and tea.
-This restaurant guy was a hit and on tv he said they paid a record amount for a tuna but was not going to charge more at his sushi restaurant even though it meant selling at a loss(but the free advertising he got...!)

-Seafood nabe, high-class unagi, waiting by the river for unagi.

This is an amazing place for its beauty but also its ability to connect the amazing pure waters of mount Aso's caldera to the downtown core of Kumamoto and connect nature and people.

Beautiful mountain town above Beppu. Probably good for a day trip(like zoomingjapan said, unless you're gonna stay at an amazing Ryokan!
It has some sites and a long market street.
